As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift their chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a battered position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
