As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique relies on seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
